Tooth Whitening, Bleaching & Zoom Treatments

Dr. Lind has been bleaching teeth since 1990.  There are several ways to lighten teeth which include:

Over the Counter Tooth Whitening:   You can buy many products from your local drug store that tout tooth whitening.  We have found over the years that these products are less effective than their professional counterparts.  The problem is that the strips are hard to put on the teeth and tend to have uneven results.   They are certainly better than doing just whitening toothpaste, but they will not give the uniform results that Zoom bleaching or bleaching trays can provide.

Zoom Whitening:    This is the fastest way to get a “wow” effect with bleaching.  It takes about two hours in the dental chair.  You are able to watch a movie while your teeth are professionally bleached.  The only side effect is that some folks get some sensitivity.  The can last for up to eight hours after the procedure, and fortunately it does not happen with most patients.  When you leave the office your teeth are visibly much brighter.  We also make you bleaching trays that you take with you.  This way you can do touch up bleaching on your own when you feel your teeth need to be a bit brighter for a big even, big meeting or some other event when you want to look your best.

Take Home Tooth Whitening Trays:  An impression is taken and models of your teeth are made.  A custom tray is fabricated that will fit comfortably over your natural teeth.  Then a specific concentration of Day White bleaching gel is placed inside the tray and inserted easily into your mouth and worn for 30 minutes.  Many patients like to bleach while they are taking a shower and getting ready in the morning.    Most patients bleach for two to three weeks once a day to get the desired result.  If the patient wants even whiter teeth, then the trays can be worn for an extended period of time.  If you develop sensitivity while bleaching, then you can place fluoride gel in the tray for fifteen minutes before bleaching, and this tends to make it more comfortable.  The new Day White has dramatically reduced the sensitivity of bleaching.
